Born and raised in upstate New York, where her father worked as an engineer for IBM, Susan developed a love for the environment and a desire to study the human visual system. This desire developed following her treatment for exotropia during high school.
Susan graduated from Georgetown University with a degree in chemistry before attending optometry school at SUNY: State College of Optometry.
Initially, Dr. Wynne worked for the Permanente Medical Group in California where in addition to performing eye examinations, she provided medical eye consultations for Family, Pediatric and Internal Medicine.
Her passion for outdoor sports prompted her to relocate to Seattle in 1997 where she worked part time for Virginia Mason while establishing Eastside Vision Care in Redmond.
Dr. Wynne is board certified by the American Board of Optometry. She is a Member of the American Optometric Association and the Optometric Physicians of Washington.
Susan enjoys hiking, camping, biking, and sailing with her family and friends.

Contact Lenses
Dr Wynne is experienced in the fitting of all types of contact lenses including bifocal soft contact lenses, soft contact lenses for astigmatism, as well as RGP’s (ridged gas permeable) and specialty contact lenses.

Diagnosis and Treatment of Eye Disease
Dr. Wynne is experienced in the treatment of glaucoma, eye infections, dry eye, and allergies as well as early detection of diabetic retinopathy and macular degeneration.
Glaucoma
Glaucoma is an eye disease which results in progressive damage to the optic nerve. The most common form of glaucoma, primary open angle glaucoma, is associated with an increase in the pressure within the eye.There are several types of eye drops which are effective in treating glaucoma as well as several eye surgeries which all act by lowering the pressure within the eye.
Visual Field Testing
Visual field testing involves the detection of a target of variable contrast presented in the periphery. A range of medical problems including glaucoma, stroke and brain tumors can reduce the peripheral vision. These problems may go unnoticed due to the overlapping vision of the two eyes.
Retinal Photography
The Marco AFC 330 camera takes digital images of the retina and stores these images for future comparison. This technology aids in the detection of glaucoma, macular degeneration, melanoma of the eye as well as many other anomalies of the eye.
Sleep Apnea
Did you know that the lack of oxygen to the body caused by a type of Glaucoma which develops despite normal eye pressures. Sleep apnea also increases a person’s risk for macular degeneration and nonarteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (NAION).
